Bald Eagle Sportsmen’s Association held their 12th annual open house event on Saturday, June 1st.
Well folks we had another successful Open House with many people well fed and a great deal of ammo sent down range. It seems that everyone that I talked to was having a great time and thanked us for putting out a wonderful program for the day. Great job everyone! Attendees were provided with a free lunch, and free shooting and instruction including use of member and club owned firearms. BESA provided bottled water and soda and chips as well as burgers and brats with all the trimmings. All proceeds of the concessions were donated to the Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network for the support and care of deployed veterans from the area.
The event included Cowboy Action Shooting with club members in period costume, WWII and Korean War era M1 Garand, and carbine battle rifles, some historical rifles, and many calibers of pistols and revolvers. There was also Trap, Skeet, and 5 stand clays for shot gunners. And there were archery lessons with BESA archers to aide children of all ages in the fine art of archery.
There was a tent for black powder arms, and Labrador Retriever demonstrations in the pond by the Retriever club of the TwinCities. There were two laser shot booths on loan from the DNR for virtual shooting that were manned by DNR certified instructors.
Also on display that afternoon was the MN DNR wall of shame booth displaying models of trophy bucks that were confiscated from poachers in MN. The ammo held out for the afternoon, (even the coveted M1 ammo) and Shooting ran well past 4PM.
Many thanks to ALL the members of BESA that have donated time and equipment to this event.
